Sparrows Are Declining Rapidly

The sparrow is a small, brownish bird that has a short, stubby tail and a short, sharp beak. Despite the sparrow’s short lifespan, the sparrow is one of the most widespread and common birds in the world. They inhabit diverse habitats including grassland, jungle, and farmland. The house sparrow (Passer domesticus) and the Eurasian tree sparrow (Passer montanus) are members of the genus Passer, which is part of the true sparrow family.

Role Of Sparrows

Sparrows are an important part of the ecosystem because they eat a lot of insects that could otherwise cause a lot of damage to plants. Sparrows also help in maintaining the level of flies and other insects and help keeping the balance in the ecosystem. But sparrows are declining in all parts of the world.

Sparrows of India Declining Rapidly

Sparrows are declining very rapidly. In the past few years, their population has dropped by almost 50%. In India, the sparrows of the country are declining rapidly. The Indian sparrow population has been declining by about 50% in the past 40 years. This is due to the loss of habitat and food. In addition, the sparrows have been exposed to the toxic chemicals in our environment. The sparrows are declining rapidly, and to make matters worse, the population has been declining for the past few decades.

Sparrows Of America Declining Rapidly

Sparrows of Europe Declining Rapidly

The sparrow population in many parts of the Europe is also declining fast. In France, sparrows are disappearing speedly in Paris. Disappearance of Sparrows in Paris remains a mystery. Sparrow Man's Efforts Have Been Saving Sparrows Lives

Here is a positive story from Kanpur Nagar district of India. Efforts of Mr Narendra Singh, a Cancer Patient, ex-Joint Development Commissioner, and Sparrow Saver have been saving lives of Sparrows. Till date he has saved 120,000 birds by distributing sparrow-friendly nests, free-of-cost. Here is his story.

We can save Sparrows and declining biodiversity

Sparrows and other animals are declining rapidly in India and many countries of the world due to habitat loss, pollution, and overpopulation of humans. Whole biodiversity and ecosystems are under stress due to human impacts like deforestation, urbanisation, agriculture expansion, industrialisation, household explosion and population explosion. Human population has reached 8 billion. It is human's sole responsibility to act for Nature, Ecosystem Restoration, and Generation Restoration. If we need a better future for humans, biodiversity, and ecosystems then we will have to take climate action; but no-action will destroy our future.
